In some cases, using your own sperm for fertility treatment may not be an option—whether due to male fertility issues or because you’re a single woman. If that’s the case, IVF Vision can still assist you in building your family by using donor sperm with IVF.

What Does IVF with Donor Sperm Involve?
- Initial Consultation
The first step in starting IVF with a sperm donor is to contact us. During this consultation, we’ll assess whether IVF with donor sperm is the best option for you and answer any questions you may have. - Determining Your Treatment Plan
We offer two treatment options for using donor sperm: IUI (donor insemination) and IVF. Your consultation will help determine which treatment is best suited for your needs.
Donor Insemination vs. IVF with Donor Sperm
- IUI (Donor Insemination): This quick procedure involves inserting the selected donor sperm into your uterus at the time of ovulation.
- IVF with Donor Sperm: This method uses fertility drugs to stimulate your ovaries. Your eggs are then inseminated with your chosen donor sperm, cultured in our laboratory, and transferred into your uterus.
If your partner is facing male fertility issues, we will recommend IVF with donor sperm. Otherwise, IUI may be the preferred option.
- IVF Vision Support
As IVF with donor sperm is an important decision, we ask all prospective patients to meet with one of our specialists before proceeding. - Choosing a Sperm Donor
The next step is finding your perfect donor. You can choose a donor from a Sperm Bank or use the clinic’s own sperm bank. We will assist you in this process and can arrange the documentation of shipment of your donor sperm from the sperm bank to the clinic for treatment.
The clinic’s own sperm donors are already donor taken by different international Sperm Banks (since we don’t use local donors for these procedures). We ensure all donors are carefully selected and fully screened since the clinic collaborates only with trusted and prestigious banks. All sperm donors are assessed for:
• Good sperm counts
• Age between 18-45 years
• Good health
• No personal or family history of genetically inherited conditions
• No sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Starting Your Treatment
Once we’ve determined the best treatment course and you’ve chosen your sperm donor, your treatment can begin once your frozen sperm arrives at clinic. If you choose the option to proceed with clinic’s own sperm donor bank, then you can start your treatment as soon as your menstrual cycle will start.
IVF with donor sperm FAQs
Why Should I Use a Fertility Clinic for Donor Sperm Treatment?
• Donor sperm from a licensed clinic is rigorously screened for infections and genetic disorders to ensure its safety and quality.
• The sperm donor will not be considered the legal parent of your child, will not be named on the birth certificate, and will have no rights regarding how your child is raised.
• A clinic ensures that insemination or IVF treatment occurs at the optimal time, maximizing the chances of conception.
Can I Use a Private Donor?
Yes, you can opt for sperm from a known donor. We require known donors to undergo the same thorough screening and assessments to ensure they are suitable for donation. Once approved, they will need to bank enough frozen sperm for your treatment.
Can I Use the Same Sperm Donor if I Want My Child to Have Siblings?
If your treatment cycle is successful, you can arrange to store an additional sample of your donor’s sperm at clinic for future use. However, this is only possible if a further sample from the donor is available.
Will My Sperm Donor Have Legal Parental Rights?
No, your sperm donor will not have any legal parental rights.
If you are married or in a civil partnership and using donor sperm, your partner will be considered the legal father. If you are not married or in a civil partnership but using donor sperm, consent forms can be completed to establish legal parental rights for your partner.
If you don’t have a partner (single women), you will be the child’s sole legal parent.
